Frequently Asked Questions

At Charmaine's Maid Services we always offer tips and answer questions.  Here are some of the most common questions we get.

Can I book a one-time cleaning?

Yes, we can accommodate one-time cleaning (i.e. Move-in/move-out, renovation, before and after party services, spring/fall cleaning). We also offer daily, weekly, every two or three weeks, or monthly service.

Are you Insured and Bonded?

Yes, we carry liability and bonding insurance, as well, our staff are covered by WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board).

General liability insurance

    Covers any breakage or other damage caused by our employees.
    Not carried by private individuals and many small companies.

Bonding insurance

    Covers any losses from employee dishonestly.
    Not carried by private individuals and many small companies.

WSIB - Workman's compensation insurance

    Protects the cleaners if they get hurt on the job
    Eliminates homeowners risk of being sued if someone was injured at their home
    Private cleaner and most small companies do not carry this insurance.

Do you bring your own cleaning supplies and equipment?

Yes, we arrive prepared to do the job.  We bring cleaning solutions, cleaning cloths, mops, buckets, feather dusters for cobwebs, and of course vacuum cleaners.  We carry environmentally friendly cleaning products for the safety of our client, their pets and children as well as for our staff.

However, should you require us to use your cleaning products and equipment, we are happy to oblige.

How do I make payment?

Payment is dues upon completion of your clean. Initial visit are on a cash only bases.  Regularly scheduled cleaning service can be paid by cash or cheque. Payments are usually left in a sealed envelope, on the kitchen table or counter or provided directly to the supervisor.

Do I have to be home when you come to clean?

No, 80% of our regular customers are at work.  Clients provide us with a key and alarm codes (when applicable) or we gain access through their garage.   Your key is tagged only with a number; no personal information is attached to it.  It is only release on the day of your clean and secured at our office until your next visit

What about statutory holidays or changing my scheduled cleaning visit?

If your scheduled cleaning falls on a major holiday, we will contact you to reschedule your cleaning day to a date that is mutually accommodating. However, if you need to change or cancel a scheduled cleaning visit we request three business days advance notice. When short notice is given, we may need to charge a fee if the team cannot be reassigned.

What if I'm not happy with the cleaning done at our home?

If you are not satisfied with a certain area cleaned by our staff, kindly notify our office within 24 hours of our scheduled visit and we will re-clean the area for free.

How do you deal with pets?

We take great care to ensure that indoor pets (cats, dogs, etc) stay indoors. Unfortunately, some pets can behave quite differently when the owner is not there and strangers are "invading" their territory. If any of our customers have pets, which may be aggressive, we ask that these pets be confined to an area not being cleaned.

What if a member of your staff breaks something?

Accidents do occur occasionally.  When it does, we will handle each occurrence on case-by-case basis.
